Coach Jay Brophy was the head football coach from 2001-2003. He served as an assisant coach for five years prior to becoming the head coach. Always a favorite, Coach Brophy generated a lot of enthusiasm among his players. His memorable football career was well known and respected.

He began his football career as a student at Buchtel High School. After graduating from high school in 1979, Jay went to the University of Miami where he was twice named captain of his University of Miami National Championship team and named a college All-American. He advanced to the NFL, playing three years with the Miami Dolphins and was a member of the 1984 Super Bowl team. He also played for the New York Jets.
